Easiest delicious Kale Chips
These are a great alternative to crisps and can be knocked up in a few minutes. Even my little one loves them and the possible combination of flavours is limitless. Here is a basic recipe to start you off on the kale chip addiction!
10 stalks of washed kale, dried and torn into bite size pieces, tough stems removed
2 heaped tsp tahini
1 tbsp soya sauce (I like Tamari)
1 tsp sesame oil
Juice of 1/2 – 1 lime/lemon depending on how tangy you like them
salt and pepper to taste
pinch chilli flakes (optional)
pinch sesame seeds (optional)
pinch nutritional yeast flakes (optional)
pinch flaked seaweed (optional)
Preheat oven to 140C fan, 150 normal. Line 3 large baking trays with parchment. Mix all the dressing ingredients in a large bowl and throw in the kale pieces. Here you can either coat everything using a spoon, or get in there with your hands so that each piece is really covered and all the frilly bits get some dressing too. Lay the kale out in a single layer, leaving some space between each piece. The trays should not be too crammed as the kale will steam rather than dehydrate. Bake for 12 minutes then check. Some pieces may be completely crisp and just browning, while others may not be ready. Remove any that are crispy, checking they taste good (!) and turn the ones that are not done. Return to the oven for a few mins more, checking frequently until all are done. I challenge you not to love these healthy snacks!
